Used Engine vs Reconditioned Engine
The difference matters for price, warranty and expected life.
Used engine A complete engine removed from a donor vehicle. It is cleaned, inspected and usually compression tested. Price is lower, and condition depends on the donor.
Reconditioned engine An engine that has been disassembled, measured and rebuilt with new wear components. Expect a higher price and a longer expected service life.
Which should you buy? For an older vehicle or a short-term repair, a tested used engine is often the sensible choice. For a vehicle you intend to keep, a reconditioned unit is usually better value over time.
Always agree the test and warranty terms in writing before payment.
